Walked into my stand around 6am. Temperature was a crisp 10 degree. Sat for about an hour with the winds swirling between 15-20 mph around me. When my right hand reach the point where I could not feel my fingers any longer I stood up and up my hand in my pocket to try and warm it up. I had hardly begun rubbing my hand against my leg to generate some friction heat when I heard crunching to my left. I turned my head to the left and observed this young buck walked out of the woods. His head was down following the track of a deer that had crossed my stand the night before. I was standing on a small knoll and he had absolutely no clue that I was there. He continued walking towards me as I continued rubbing my hand against my leg to get some feeling back. Since I had already passed up two other same bucks I figured God my trying to tell me something so when he got to within 10 yards from me I took my hand out of my pocket and took the shot. He dropped where he was standing. Took me a while to field dress him as my hand was still so cold I could not hold my knife. Big thank you to my son who came and helped me get him back to my truck.
