Opening day of the 2017 rifle season, I had been watching an area of about 350 yards  over a 180 degrees and keeping my eye on a certain opening in the brush 175 yards straight away thinking how nice it would be to see a deer step into that spot. Then with 4 minutes of legal shooting time left, a nice rack appeared, took the 30:06 of the hook, dialed up from 2 to 7 power, shouldered the gun and took a clean shot off hand. It was about 7 seconds from spotting the deer to pulling the trigger. 190LBs, 10 pointer, Season over.

As I rounded the corner in my canoe, Mike signaled me from his tree, there is a buck bedded down in front of me, park your canoe, climb my tree and take the shot. Mike who tagged out during bow season, was hunting with a camera. After parking the canoe, I climbed 40′ to the stand, took the 125 yard shot as the bounding deer was exiting the bog, the hunt was over.
