I watched this nice 3.5 yr old deer all summer and created doe and buck bedding areas using hinge cutting techniques. He was using one particular bed consistently so I waited to hunt this spot until the first of November when I knew the rut would be in full swing in Michigan. Sure enough as I was sitting in a tree on a pinch point leading to the bedding area I watched him chase does all morning. Around 11:00am he was heading down the pinvhpoint towards his bed and that led him to an 18 yard shot that ended with a quick clean harvest. 

One thing that made this special is that I passed all bucks on my property for two years helping to cultivate some older more mature bucks while I continued to harvest does in an effort to ontain a better buck to doe ratio.

After 30 yrs of hunting in MI I finally decided to try my hand at Turkey hunting. I’m not sure why it took so long to get onboard but I’m glad I did because my first harvest resulted in a beautiful Tom with a 11-7/8” beard and 7/8” spurs.

This was my first archery Turkey and what a rush it was! I was hunting alone and using a Primos diaphragm call so my hands where free on the bow. He circled behind me and I carefully got turned around and made a great 20 yard shot on this great bird that has a 9-1/4” beard.
