Alright.  Story time.  Ready?  Probably one of the most exciting hunts I’ve ever been on.  

Perfect morning.  Woke up at 5:30, wandered outside for a smoke and decided that today was the day.  Crisp, quiet, just perfect morning. Got dressed and headed out back.  About 45 minutes after sitting down, I watched 5 does to my left, on the other side of a wood line following each other for a few minutes.  Not 2 minutes later this guy came out in front of me to my right, nose right to the ground making a B line for the doe urine I put out.  Snapped a twig when I was readjusting myself to get a shot and he looked right at me.  Had just enough time to get a shot off.  He ran like he was hurt so I was confident I hit him.  Racked another shell in and walked over to where he was standing when I shot.  Not a single drop of blood.  Followed his tracks for a little bit...still no blood.  Meanwhile I’m cursing at myself because I thought I had missed.  No sooner did I let out a big “F&$*”, another doe had come out behind me, right where he was standing when I shot.  She blew at me and took off.  Then I heard a crashing in the bushes and there he was, trying to get up.  Still not a drop of blood leading up to where he was laying.  Put another bullet in him and that was that.  7 deer all within 15 minutes.  He is my third buck in 3 years.  Not my biggest, but definitely the most exciting and he’ll taste good just the same! 😎

Shot in Monroe, Maine. Hot on a does tail. Came in grunting after her. 23 1/2" spread. Biggest buck I’ve ever shot!
