I started my opening day Hunt in a stand that I recently put up. At 7:30Am an 8 pt buck came in behind me off my right side. He was slowly working his way through an acorn ridge After watching him for about 5 minutes he got down wind of me and decided against moving in any further.

I hunted that stand until about 9am when I decided to do some still hunting through an old chopping. Once I got into the chopping I spotted a two doe about 50 yards in front of me. While watching these does I heard a grunt followed by about 10 more. After 15 minutes of waiting for him to come out I decided to move in closer to him and work a grunt call.

I could hear the buck in front of me at 40 yards and could see him working a small clearing in middle of the chopping, while waiting for a shot I watched him start to fight with a six point. After what felt like a life time I was able to get a shot on the 8pt and dropped him in his tracks using the Remington 7400 that my father bought me when I was born.
