2021 Opening Day

I haven’t been excited about this years season at all. I lost the spot I have been hunting for years, due to the property being sold and the new owners denying me permission to continue. Add to that, a lot of personal distractions that have been consuming my energy. Friday night I decided that I just wasn’t feeling it and I wasn’t even going out for opening morning. I felt guilty and ashamed all morning and decided to get my stuff together and get out there for the afternoon. Nothing went right… I’ve gained so much weight in the last year, my first discovery was that my hunting gear didn’t fit. As I went through my husbands gear trying to figure out what I could make work, my hot flashes kicked into high gear and I had a melt down. After getting myself together, wiping my tears and an apology to my husband for my menopausal outburst, I was out the door. Hunting was actually just what I needed. It felt great… At 4:40 this guy walked out. My longest shot to date. 175 yards and I dropped him in his tracks. 2021 ended up being a short and good season after all!
