Decided to go sit at a different spot this morning.  Sat there using a deer call till 945 . Decided I wasn't seeing anything so I moved to a stand up in the woods.  I knew that my cousin was going to be out soon and thought this my be a place where if he jumped one it would come by me .  Well not the case , it came from a total opposite direction.  Missed the first shot but he stopped nicely for the second.  Nice 6pt 150lbs .

Well it is a short season for my family,  I managed to tag out on this nice 8pt this morning!! Nice rack but not a very heavy deer.  My wife actually beat me in the weight part with a 147lbs doe on the first day. Sad it's over but on to the next season. 

We had a great weekend/ week and got a bunch of birds too!!

A short story about this gun. It is an old Springfield army rifle that my grandfather ( Gordon Seekins) bought and finished it to what it looks like now. I did add the scope many years ago myself.  This gun has now helped me and my father (Steve Seekins )take a few deer and quite a few years ago helped Harold Wilber ( a Seekins' relative)take a moose and now my wife !!  So proud to have this!!!

It was a tuff year for me this year . Seems like I was always either getting disturbed by someone on my food plot or if I wasn't there someone else was getting deer there. I passed one small buck up on Thanksgiving week. Figured I wasn't going to get one this year. I got up yesterday and the weather was crap so I decided I was not going to drive 50 miles to work so I took the day off . I went to my stand (1/2 mile from home) got there at 6:50  got set and then looked up and there was a deer . Pulled the trigger at 7:05. I did catch a glimpse of antler but I thought it was the smaller buck i saw a week or so ago . I was pleasantly surprised when I found this deer. Well i stretched the season out again but always sad to see it end.  

got about a dozen birds that week and had an awesome time. permittee got a really nic e moose.

There's some good eating there.   I remember cooking some of them and a couple ducks at your house years ago.
