Hunting season was pretty limited time wise this year with the birth of a new baby early in the season. Got a chance to get out and sit Monday 11/18, the night of a small ice/rain storm. Because of my limited time for hunting this year, when this 125 pound doe came out with a yearling, I decided to take the larger doe. Shot was just behind the front shoulder, so no meat was damaged, although this kind of shot tends to lead to runners. This one ran about 300 yards and crossed a small stream before going down. Tracking turned out to be easy with a paunch/blood trail all the way, although very minimal blood at initial contact site due to no bullet exit. Tough drag out alone with the icy conditions going uphill and across the stream.
