This is a day late but yesterday November 6 at 6:21 am I heard a splash in the water. I sat there and a doe was running from left to right, right down the path dan said they would, then ran up and away. Not even 2 minutes later the doe came back, right in front of me, about 30 yards. I had a stare off for about 20 minutes where I couldn’t move, then when she turned to the right and Broadside, I let her have the smack down. She jumped and ran to the right and cut up always about 40 yards. I thought I missed because all I could see was my arrow sticking in the ground. I called dan and I was beating myself up. Dan went and looked at the arrow and blood all over it. Through and through that bolt went in the deer and out the other side. Double lung shot. We tracked her and the blood just got worse and worse and me found the doe about 40 yards away. The doe was about 130 not gutted then gutted she was 104 pounds. A very nice doe. I wanted to even wrap the rope around the deer and then around my waist and try to dragged it out but dan thought it was a better idea for him to drag her out, which I agreed it was. This is the hard part just writing this makes tears come to my eyes. Dan and all of reboot gave it 150 percent on setting me on a deer. To me the deer was just a bonus. I just enjoyed being out in the woods again. I was a challenge for Dan, he didn’t think he could put me on a deer. He never gave up helping me out in the woods day in and out. He adapted and over came the challenge. When I got out of the military I lost that feeling of the brother hood and felt lost in the world, struggling with mental and physical health problems. In and out of the hospital and I’m still struggling with everything. It all started when I got draws for a bear hunt for operation reboot. I found a purpose In life and found that feeling of the brother hood again. I have made so many friends that will be life long friends. I put 110 percent into helping Reboot any way I can, even behind the Scenes. I’m not doing this for Recognize, I’m doing because it an amazing feeling seeing and helping other Veteran out Hunting and fishing again and see there smile on there face when they tag an animal. I truly am speechless and no words can describe how much operation reboot has helped me. This is the best organization in the world. I haven’t been out hunting since I got back in Maine in 2016. People don’t see it but all the guys and girls give it there all to set each thing up and adapted and over come the challenge and never give up. I can’t thank all of reboot enough for this amazing opportunity. I want to again thank all of reboot again. Also Jake for giving me his doe tag this year, which let me harvest this amazing doe. See the look on dans face says it all and how emotional he was and I was and how proud he was. That’s the reason all of reboot gives it there all no matter what.
