Hunted this morning in Monroe with Dan Perez We started the morning by just sitting in the truck with windows down to listen for gobbles. Not to long after we heard one gobbling a few hundred yards away in another area. We went to another road to get closer to it. I shot the first bird which is the one in this picture. Approximately 18lb tom with 7/8 inch spurs and a 9 inch beard. This bird was gobbling it’s head off and worked it’s way to 15 yards. While it was coming in we could hear another couple gobblers on the opposite side of the road probably 500 yards away. Once I shot this one we walked a few hundred yards and set up again. Two jakes came in strutting and gobbling and we doubled up on them. 3 birds by 530 am. A good morning in the turkey woods.
