Meg and  I were sitting in the hot tub at a house we rented in north Tampa. The owner of the house had a green “fish light” that he put out when he saw I was a fisherman. Every 10 minutes or so I would check the light to see if there were any fish around it. One of the time I finally saw a fish near it which was this gar fish. I casted a few infront of it and it hammered the lure. What a fun time!

Went to harpswell with Sam and Parker for the day to set lobster traps. This is my first time lobster fishing. We set all the traps then went and striper fished for a little while which resulted in 3 striper. On our way back through I basically had to beg Parker to to pull two lines, we caught 4 or 6 lobsters and one keeper

A day that I remember very well. Andrew and I were standing on the lawn of our house when we heard gobbling I remember making our way across the field and onto the mountain. These birds were gobbling but were not moving towards us. I starting walking up the mountain when I saw at least 6-8 red heads lined up on a dead fallen over tree at about 60-70 yards. At this point in my life (5/15/22) that is too far but In 2012 that seemed like a manageable shot so I took it. One of those few birds folded right there. The others flew right over my head down hill. I shot and missed but Andrew killed  a tom out of the sky. Mine was a only a jake. A good day of turkey hunting in my eyes

plecostomus Is the name of this odd fish. Most commonly located in a fish tank at a doctors office and only about 3 inches long but this one was in a residential pond in Kissimmee Florida along with thousands of others. It took a lot of time to get one of these to bite but I finally hooked one after countless hours.

Fished near castine for smelt with my dad, Megan, andrew, Chris, Sam, jarid leonard and his father, kassey and Emma. All of us caught our limit without much struggle. I was targeting small fish for trolling bait so released hundreds. 

Turkey Double 
I was sitting on the couch when meg asked me “what the hell was on the lawn”. It was raining that day. When I got up i instantly knew they were turkeys but they were soaking wet so did look a little bit Demonic as they were standing in a triangle. I snuck around the house and they instantly took off running. Turkeys aren't the smartest animals so I thought once they got out of sight they would stop. I walked to the end of the lawn and sure enough all three were standing at 30 yards. I shot two of them in three shots while meg was watching out the window. I smoked the two I got in the pit boss and man were they good!

    Today I shot the buck of a life time! 217 lb 8 point. But not only that it was a very strange morning. I shot my deer at 5:58 in the morning (5 minutes after legal shooting began). Then as I was walking back to the house to get my mom and talking on the phone with Sam I heard my dad shoot. (he got an 8 point dressed 150lbs) Then after my mom and I were about half way out with my deer my mom heard another shot that sounded off in the distance so we didn't think much of it. Then not 5 minutes later my dad arrived after dragging his deer out by him self (all down hill) he told us that andrew had just shot (Andrew got a 6 point dressed at 141lbs) we were all within a half a mile of eachother. probably will never happen again! good memory!

Walked the river with Chris Taylor and Megan. I was the only one to catch a fish. Later in the day Chris caught a native trout in a smaller stream

Missed big Tom had to settle for Jake 10 minutes later. Dad and I were sitting in one of our favorite local spots. I was sitting slightly behind my dad because the plan was he was going to shoot first. The turkeys had a different plan. The second it became daylight turkeys started gobbling behind us. I figured at some point they would enter the field and hopfully see our decoys. Shortly after I looked over my left shoulder where dad clearly could not see and had 4 birds strutting within 10 yards headed right for the field. Dad did not are these birds and started using his call he had mounted in his gun. Obviously at this point all four birds looked directly at me and started to get nervous. I took a shot and missed. I ended up called jakes from across the road down into the field and shot one of them.

Moose shot  in October of 2008. My mother and I’s first and problably only hunt together. Great memory

Oscar Fish from the Everglades. While meg and I were on our honey moon in Florida we stayed at two different rental houses. One was in west palm beach and the other was on Cape Coral. When we were traveling from one side of the state to he other we took route 41 through the Everglades. Dad mentioned before we left that we needed to take the Loop Road. I stopped at almost every bridge on this road to fish and everyone of them were loaded with garfish and gators. It was almost hard to fish because every time the lure hit the water alligators would come in from almost every direction to investigate the splash. I only caught this one fish which I did not know the identity of until a ran into a local man down the rod originally from Cuba. The man told me what the fish was and also explained to me his run in with Bigfoot in the Everglades. I did not get the man’s name. This hopefully will not be my last drive through the Everglades.

Opening day of bow season doe. First time I’ve ever shot two deer in one day. 

Opening day of bow season. Full velvet 8 point.  I had shot a doe sitting in this same stand in the morning. The camera Sam Kulikowski had on the apple tree in front of the stand had been very busy over the last couple of weeks so I was extremely confident going into the afternoon sit. The camera was one that had an internal viewing screen on it. When I got there in the afternoon I grabbed the camera before getting in the stand so I could view all the pictures from the past few days. I got into the stand right around 345. I began looking through the photos it had taken at around 430 or so. When looking at the pictures I learned there was a giant 10 point under my stand during the morning sit while I was there before legal. I got in super early and could not see but I did hear the deer eating apples in front of me. I also learned that this deer pictured above what coming into that tree every day consistently around 435. I quickly put the camera away and got ready. Sure enough the deer walked right in within 10 minutes. I hit the bone and didn’t get great penetration which lead to a nightmare of a track but we found it. Your not a real bow hunter if this hasn’t happen to you. On our last day in Florida we went to visit my uncle Ryan in a town near Tampa. We took the sting ray out for the day and fished basically the entire time unsuccessfully (except for the bird Jeff caught). After going into johns pass we turn around and went back to Ryan’s. Megan and I drove to a gas station near buy that sold live bait and bought live shrimp. Jeff, Megan, Mom, and I stood on the dock fishing. I caught my first red fish using the shrimp. Jeff also caught a snook and Megan lost a bigger red fish but as she was pulling it up on the dock the swivel broke.

Caught this fish on the 2021 moose hunt. During the week I passed over many brooks and streams that caught my attention and thinking to my self as I passed over every one of them “gotta be trout in there”. Eventually I got tired of looking at them and my hunter had already tagged out so I stopped to try one of them and caught this 8-9 lb Muskie. Andrew helped me land the fish 

I caught this fish off a restaurant pier in Florida off treasure island. This was the only fish I caught on this trip and probably the most unique fish I’ve ever caught hook and line. Using shrimp as bait.

Remora fish! Meg and I went on a drift fishing charter out of Hollywood Florida. We didn’t care what we caught. I saw this (what I thought was a shark) swimming under the boat for a while so instead of fishing on bottom in the 150-200 feet of water I pulled up and was fishing right under the boat for this remora fish. It took about 30 minutes and a few bites to finally hook him. I was disappointed that it didn’t have big teeth when I pulled it in the boat but still very cool. These fish are most commonly found hitching rides on bigger sharks.

Hunted this morning in Monroe with Dan Perez We started the morning by just sitting in the truck with windows down to listen for gobbles. Not to long after we heard one gobbling a few hundred yards away in another area. We went to another road to get closer to it. I shot the first bird which is the one in this picture. Approximately 18lb tom with 7/8 inch spurs and a 9 inch beard. This bird was gobbling it’s head off and worked it’s way to 15 yards. While it was coming in we could hear another couple gobblers on the opposite side of the road probably 500 yards away. Once I shot this one we walked a few hundred yards and set up again. Two jakes came in strutting and gobbling and we doubled up on them. 3 birds by 530 am. A good morning in the turkey woods. 

Here we are 5 years later and for some reason there is no story on this buck but I still remember it as if it was only yesterday.  At  this point of my life this was the biggest buck I had killed. 

It was a very cold and quiet morning. I walked from l what is now my brothers house all the way to the top of the mountain. I had hunted in the same spot the evening before and saw several does which obviously boosted my confidence for the stump I was sitting on. Before leaving the spot I sprayed probably an unrealistic amount of deer scent in the area expecting to make the hike again in the morning. 

The next day came along and I made the walk to the same spot. It was not long before I did some calling with a can call and shortly after that I heard leaves crunching in my direction. Next thing I knew All I could see what his antlers coming up over the hill towards me and I knew he was a shooter. 

I was using Andrews 7mm that day for some reason. This buck stepped up just high enough for me to get a perfect broadside shot. I picked up and put the cross hairs right behind his front shoulder at about 40 yards and just squeezed the trigger. CLICK!! The round did not fire but the buck heard a not so natural noise. He did not run but was staring right at me. 

At this point I am in a pure panic because in my mind I know this deer is going to run when I cycle another round in but for some reason he let me. I took aim again and quickly got a shot off and dropped him in his tracks. This was a pretty easy drag since it was completely steep down hill on dead leaves. 

My first deer with a bow. Mitch Simpson invited me to hunt with him at one of his spots near Bangor. We went about a week before and set up a tree stand in a huge pine tree. Mitch told me it was always a good first day spot. Sure enough I had not been sitting for 5 minutes when I saw the first deer. Unfortunately it was before legal shooting time so I could not shoot. Shortly after this about 10 minutes after legal shooting time began this piebald doe walked out at 30 yards. For those who bow hunt you know that the beginning of shooting time and the end it is sometimes difficult to find your pin in your peep site. After being at full draw and trying to get my pin on her I finally got it and made the shot. Not many people shoot a deer the first day ever bow hunting let alone the first 15 minutes.

My third sighting of this deer. I passed this deer up the first week of the season and I passed him up 15 minutes before I shot him. Today after watching him walk away thinking to myself that it wasn’t big enough and happy with my decision dad sent me a picture of Allen Weaver’s buck who hunts right over the hill. This was a familiar buck to me because dad had it on camera (as well as Allen) and it was my (and everyone else’s) target buck for the year. After seeing that deer dead and knowing the other buck I wanted was dead (dads deer) I thought to myself, next deer with antlers I see is dead. It had been a long season for me and I’d put a lot of hours in. I took out my call and did three doe bleats. Next thing I know the little buck I had just passed was running full tilt across the marsh and standing on the side of the river looking for the doe. I went good on the deal I made to myself and lifted this buck. 
   I am not disappointed with this deer because it is the first deer I’ve shot behind my grandfathers old house which belongs to me now, using my fathers .308  and used my grandfathers old canoe to retrieve it. Megan and dad came as well to help me get it out of the woods. This is the smallest buck I’ve shot in years but I am still happy and glad it happened. This makes 13 years in a row successfully harvesting a deer. 

Contrary to the 2022 season I really had to work for this one. I changed schedules this year to a Tuesday through Friday work week. This allowed me to hunt most weeks only Mondays and Saturday’s. I also missed the first Monday and Saturday of the season for a vacation to Nashville(I did not pick the dates.) I saw only two deer this season that I could have killed, the first being a spike horn and then this 6 point. I started my morning sitting in the same stand that my father shot his 8 point in a week prior, my confidence  going in was extremely low as it had been pretty much everyday due to my lack of deer sightings. I sat in the stand until about 830 and gave up. I did not want to hunt anymore because it was starting to feel like a waste of time. As I got to the trail to head back towards my house I had a brief argument with myself and ultimately convinced myself to hunt for another hour and a half in another area a few hundred yards away. I made my way to a good spot where I could see a good distance and made a few buck grunts and began to kick my feet in the leaves making a mock scrape. In the process of making the scrape I heard a noise that stopped me. I listened for about two seconds before I decided the noise was a deer walking into me. I quickly climbed over a blown down tree behind me to get a clear shot just to find out I totally misjudged where this noise was coming from and had to climb back over the blow down because it was now in my way. The second my feet hit the ground on the other side I could start to see the legs moving through the thick stuff. At this point my gun was up and the safety was off. The deer stepped out I took one quick look saw it had antlers and squeezed the trigger.  

Great story.    I love the inner self argument part.   Been there!

A deer I probably didn’t deserve. I had my two buddies from Scarborough up for our annual hunting trip. We spent about 4 days together all hunting very hard. A couple days before this I had an opportunity at a big doe and because we were all hunting together I shot her. This caused a multi day celebration which bled into the night before this where I had several other buddies over. We played card games and enjoyed maybe a few too many cold drinks. Ultimately we did not make up out of bed for the morning hunt. When we did finally make it out of bed we went and got breakfast at the Monroe lions club hunter breakfast. It was absolutely down pouring rain. Dan and Brian went out in the woods and sat thru the rainstorm and I told them I was right behind them when they walked out the door. I did not walk out right behind them  and walked right to the couch and laid down because I did not feel good. Once the rain stopped around 130 pm I thought it was finally time for me to go hunt. I had it all planned out all day where I was going to sit but that all changed when I got a picture of my neighbor walking right in front of my trail cam before I went out. This caused me to come up with a whole new plan which included me jumping on the four wheeler and heading near dads camp. When I got into the woods the clouds went away and it instantly became hot outside. My confidence went from about 10/100 to 0. I drove the wheeler to the area and sat on the wheeler for about 15 minutes playing on my phone and not being quiet, I didn’t care. Finally I walked about 100 yards from the four wheeler, sat on the ground against a tree that as a group have some history with. I did put out some code red doe estrous on a scent wick next to me. 5 minutes later i turned around and this buck was freshening up a scrape 50 yards from me.  I dropped him after a brief struggle to find him in my scope.

Ended the day with 15 lake trout and 4 salmon. A great day on the lake. Fished with Bryan Jungles Jr and Sr, Jeff Kinney, Taylor Reynolds, Jarid Leonard, and Johnny Ratliff. 

First deer harvested with dads .308 he won at Austin Grants memorial breakfast. I didn’t have my 30-30 because my friends Dan Donovan and Brian were visiting from southern Maine. Dan was using my 30-30. I sat in my neighbors field and filled my bonus doe permit. This was the first bonus tag I have ever had. Dad met me at the house and came on the wheeler to get it with me. 

I am unsure if the date on this deer but believe it to be in either 2014 or 2015. Bryan and I spread out at this spot many times over the years and I always seemed to have more luck than him. I saw this deer come out in the orchard I was sitting on in the corner of my eye and shot her at 25 yards

I had been sitting in this stand with my bow several times in a row and continued to watch deer come out at around 100 yards. Finally I got fed up watching the deer so when one stepped out I climbed out of my stand and stuck up within 50 yards. This is the only deer to date that I have hit with and arrow and watched go down. 


It was a very nice morning  and i know the size wasn’t as grand and you would like it to have been but the memory sure is grand. It’s the first buck that we hauled into our new deer camp and something we will never forget.  We did it together and it is a pure trophy Brody.  :)

I walked to the back side of  a 42 acre plot of land at daylight. Dad was sitting a couple hundred yards from me. It was dead calm, cold, and quiet in the woods. I rattled and before long had a deer run in full tilt that I was unable to Identify due to it being so thick. I later watched 3 does cross behind me which I considered shooting because I have a bonus doe permit this season. I decided not to try and shoot one because I was so confident with the area I was hunting that a buck would eventually come through. I again rattled about 30 minutes after I saw the does and with in minutes I was having a stare off with a deer that I could not see the head of. I spend what felt like minutes trying to see what it was until I caught a glimpse of what appeared to be a rack that was good enough for me. I took the shot and before 5 seconds I had a text from my dad saying “did you get him?”. 
There was an inch of snow on the ground which made for easy tracking. We ended up jumping g up the deer and it ended up laying down in two feet of water in a beaver swamp where I took the kill shot. Fun morning with my dad!

Went camping in the north Maine woods with Megan, Jack, and Jen in pursuit of musky. We had many follows hooked up on a few but managed to land 3 in the boat. Myself, Megan and Jack all caught our fist muskies this trip. 

First 4 striper of the year caught on an so minnow.

I shot this doe on one of the islands in Penobscot bay. Earlier in the sit I was busted by 4 does that came in behind me to about 20 yards but I did not see them until they were running away. I thought for sure at this point my night was over but didn’t completely lose hope. About 10 minutes before dark I looked behind me and 2 more does had mad their way in. I had a shot at about 45 yards but decided not to shoot because I always miss at 45 yards... I waited until this doe was at about 20 yards. I the. Shot it with my bow and went about 50 yards. Bryan jungles Sr. helped me drag.

First day sea duck hunting out of my 2008 smoker craft. Shot out of a layout blind. Taylor and Jared were on shore hunting off a point while andrew was in my boat getting our dead ducks. 

11/7/19- 
I got out of work at 4 am this morning and when out hunting right when I came home. I didn’t get to sleep until 930 in the morning. I woke up at 130 pm and got right up to hunt. I was walking In to the same spot I sh out my 217 lb 8 point in 2017 and made it in there around 215 or so. I brought in a set of antlers to try rattling. Right when I sat down on a stump I rattled for about 30 seconds and then did a couple grunts. I then started using my phone. Not 5 minutes went by when I heard a grunt. I looked up and was surprised to see this buck walking right into me. It came to about 10 yards when I shot. The hunt was approximately 15 minutes long and my first time successfully rattling in a buck. Andrew and Dad showed up to help drag and take photos.  

Reaped. Andrew dropped me off and then drove down the road and watched the entire thing. I shot a total of four times at the turkey.  Head is MIA 

Last night I was able to hunt for the season.  This is the first bear I have seen on bait in 3 years.

Seemed almost too quiet tonight in the woods.  Dad met me for the track! Good hunt!

Gotta love those Monroe bucks. Awesome deer. Congrats!!

I once knocked a wood duck off a log all the from the side of Jackson road to the other side of of Marsh Stream  towards Aaron Mitchell’s house. It was his grandmother, Ida Mitchell’s, house  at the time.  That was good 70 or 80 yds.    And it was a 20 gauge but probably with lead shot at that time.   Way too far but it got the job done.
