Missed big Tom had to settle for Jake 10 minutes later. Dad and I were sitting in one of our favorite local spots. I was sitting slightly behind my dad because the plan was he was going to shoot first. The turkeys had a different plan. The second it became daylight turkeys started gobbling behind us. I figured at some point they would enter the field and hopfully see our decoys. Shortly after I looked over my left shoulder where dad clearly could not see and had 4 birds strutting within 10 yards headed right for the field. Dad did not are these birds and started using his call he had mounted in his gun. Obviously at this point all four birds looked directly at me and started to get nervous. I took a shot and missed. I ended up called jakes from across the road down into the field and shot one of them.
